We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Uncle Ed. I always loved how kind he was to share his beautiful wood carvings with me growing up. He will be greatly missed. We are thinking of you all during this difficult time.

Henry “Ed” Kriegel, 72, died Saturday, November 25, 2023, at his daughter’s home.
As per Ed’s wishes, he was cremated. A visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Cox-Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family.
Ed was born on December 7, 1950, in Grinnell, Iowa. He received his GED from Marshalltown Community College. On October 31, 1969, Ed took Marla Williams to be his wife. The couple was wed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Grinnell.
He worked at Miracle and at Farmhand, before retiring with long term disability. Ed liked fishing, hunting and camping. He enjoyed carving wood. If he wasn’t watching Blue Bloods, COPS or anything John Wayne; you could find him tinkering or joking with friends and family. He was ornery and passed that along to his children and grandchildren. Ed enjoyed spending time and playing card games with his great granddaughter Kinzey. He will be missed.
Those left to cherish Ed’s memory are his wife, Marla Kriegel of Grinnell; their children, Marvin (Shelly) Kriegel, Lisa Kriegel (Kirk Reinier), and Dan (Kim) Kriegel, all of Grinnell; grandchildren, Lindsey (Cody) Schwarck, Josh Kriegel, Nick Kriegel (Ashley Gipe), Emily Kriegel, Jacob Shepard, Levi Reinier, Matt (Kayla) Innis, Dakota "Alexis" (Nathan) Blocker, Austin (Bella) Kriegel, Shaden Wyatt (Courtney Ingle), Jevin Wyatt and Logan Kriegel. His great grandchildren, Ava, Aiden, Clayson, Kinzey, Paisley, Mayson, Tinsley, Chelo, Eric, Bentley, Braxton and Brodie; and his siblings, Joe Kriegel, David Kriegel, Brenda Schutt and Phyllis Anderson.
He was preceded in death by granddaughter, Kaylee and his sister, Susan Wickliff.
