Herbert “Max” Jenkins, 96, of Shelby, NC passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025.

Max was born on December 7, 1928, to the late Will and Ola Jenkins. He was preceded in death by his sisters Virginia Whisnant and Ruth Bowen; brothers Jim, Ray, and Glenn Jenkins; his son Jerry Jenkins; and grandson Nicholas Jenkins.

Raised in the small town of Lattimore by Christian parents, Max lived his life guided by the saying, “A man is only as good as his word.” He embodied this principle daily, earning the respect and love of all who knew him.

Max dedicated many years as a department head at The Doran Mill Textile Plant, where his leadership and kindness impacted countless lives. A man of strong faith, he cherished his Sundays at Rehobeth Church, where he formed lifelong friendships and found great fellowship.

Max was also a lifelong member of the Camp Call Masonic Lodge and a dedicated member of the Piedmont Shrine Club, where he enjoyed fellowship and service with his brothers.

Above all, Max loved spending time with his family and treasured every moment with them. His legacy of faith, integrity, and love will continue to live on in those he leaves behind.
