Herbert "Mule" Taplett

Herbert "Mule" Taplett, age 77 was born on February 4, 1949 departed this earthly home on Thursday, February 26, 2026. He was retired from Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government. Herbert was the loving son of Evelyn Stewart Taplett. Beloved father of Toshia Taplett Taylor (Nealward) and Kenya Taplett. Devoted brother of Carolyn Taplett (Ivory), who was, also his caregiver, Evelyn Taplett Brown (Ernest Sr.), Kathy A. Johnson (Winfred), Rev. Cynthia Hartman (Rudy), Carnell R. Taplett, Lennotcha D. Taplett (Jacklyn), Peter L. Taplett, Jr. (Elaine) and Kennedy Taplett. Nephew of Vera A. Singleton. Nephew-in-law of Dorothy Arceneaux. He was also survived by his former wife Joann Hawkins, 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Peter Lee Taplett, Sr., his grandparents Viola Ringold, Irvin Stewart, Sadie Ringo and Herbert Taplett; his grandchildren Maurkeyah Taplett, Kendra Marie Taplett, and Nealward Taplett; his aunts Joyce Arceneaux, Myrtle Stewart Thomas, Genevieve Smith, and Louise Taplett Parker; and his uncles Paul, Alvin, and Lawrence Arceneaux, Sr., Belton Gauno, Sr., Leroy Gauno and Joseph Taplett.  Relatives and friends of the family, also Pastor, officers and members are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Plymouth Rock Baptist Church, 1000 Wallis Street, Houma, LA 70360 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Interment Deweyville, LA, Houma, LA.
