GOLDEN - Herman Doyce Kent, 85, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025, at his home in Golden. He was born February 17, 1940, in Itawamba County, to Charlie and Ollie Stockton Kent. He worked for the Itawamba County First District Supervisor for over 30 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, he loved his ford trucks, his tractors, caring for his farm and baling hay! He loved his wife of 63 years and all his family sincerely and made sure we all knew that he did! His love for God Almighty was evident and led his family to a true, eternal salvation! His life spoke volumes of his walk with God! He was loved so deeply and will be missed immensely.
Services will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 2, at the Trinity Assembly of God in Red Bay with Bro. David Keley and Bro. Rick Bradley officiating. Burial will be in the Butler Cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Berdie Kent; three sons, Faron Kent (Renee), Kenny Kent (Amanda), and Greg Kent, all of Golden; one daughter, Kathy Kent White (Tommy) of Belmont; eleven grandchildren, Kimberli Kent, Kelcie Weaver (Casey), Koley Kent, Kaleb Kent, Chestun Kent (Michaela), Luke Kent (Olivia), Kelly Bartkoski (Tony), Jessica Herman (Tyler), and Maranda Kennedy (Tracey), Brooklyn Chambers, and Alyssa Chambers; fifteen great grandchildren, Brazlin, Lyric, and Atlas Weaver, Bristal, Charlee, Rosalie, and Noah Kent, Bear, Boone, and Thea Bartkoski, Jude Herman, Micah Herman, Carter, Maveric, and Hawkins Kennedy; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, James L. Kent and Charles Kent; two sisters, Vara Lee Holland and Charlene Pharr; and his parents.
Pallbearers will be Chestun Kent, Luke Kent, Tommy White, Koley Kent, Kaleb Kent, Ricky Holland, and Casey Weaver.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Bartkoski and Tyler Herman.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until service time (7:00 p.m.) at the Trinity Assembly of God Church in Red Bay.
