Hollowell's Obituary

On Sunday, November 9, 2025, Hollowell Shields Jones of Tillery, North Carolina, peacefully entered eternal rest, joining his beloved wife, Alice Georgia Britt Jones. He was the son of the late Abram Jones and Julius Marlinda Jones. Hollowell is survived by his daughter, Alia Jones-Harvey, and his extended children Anthony Tyrone Everette, Steven Ricardo Everette, Milton Douglas Everette, Jr., Tracy Everette, and Cathy Everette-Williams. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and his cousins Sandra Davis and Joseph Banks. His life and legacy will be cherished by all who loved him.

With steadfast devotion to his country, Mr. Jones received an honorable discharge from the United States Army in February 1968. He continued his distinguished service in the Army Reserve, where he was promoted to the esteemed rank of Command Sergeant Major CSM, retiring in December 2000. His military journey reflects a life of honor, duty, and unwavering commitment to the nation he loved.

During his lifetime, Mr. Jones accomplished degrees from several institutions: an Undergraduate Degree in 1961 from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, a Master’s Degree with Beta Gamma Sigma honors in 1971 from Charminade University of Honolulu, Hawaii, and a second Bachelor of Arts in 2012 from Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, Arizona.

In or around 1972, Mr. Jones surrendered his life to Christ Jesus and was fondly remembered by friends and co-workers as a humble man of faith. Together with his devoted wife, Alice Georgia Britt Jones, he helped pioneer the establishment of new churches and projects throughout the Washington Metroplex, remaining steadfast in their support and guidance as these congregations grew and flourished. Command Sergeant Major Hollowell Shields Jones is profoundly loved and will be terribly missed.
