We are praying for all of you. I will always remember Uncle Hugh as the one who always had a smile on his face. He also had such a positive attitude that it was a joy to be around him. We will miss that smile. Love you all!!

Hugh E.'s Obituary

Hugh E. Potter, Jr., 79, of N. Andover, MA, formerly of Salem, NH passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers, MA surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Wayne, OH, a son of the late Hugh E. and Virginia O. (Leathers) Potter.

 

Mr. Potter grew up in Ohio. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.  He worked for over 25 years as a salesman for the Schindler Elevator Company of Toledo, OH.  While in Salem, Mr. Potter volunteered at the Salem Boys & Girls Club and also volunteered for the Cataract and Laser Center, driving elderly patients to the center for treatment for 11 years.  He was also a past member of the Kiwanis and a member of the Bridge Club.  Mr. Potter loved spending time with his family and he was an absolute master at putting complicated jigsaw puzzles together.

 

He is survived by three sons; Michael Kempher and his wife Lori of Findley, OH, Mark Potter and his wife Karen of Manchester, MA and Matthew Potter and his wife Amy of Belchertown, MA, a daughter, Lisa Spampinato and her husband Joseph of Salem and by 13 grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother; Jerry Potter of Hastings, MI and by two sisters; Shirley Sheldrick of Haskins, OH and Mary Lou Morrison of Kentucky and by many nieces and nephews.

 

He was predeceased by his wife; Carolyn (Schmidt) Potter in 2013.

 

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem. A funeral service will follow Wednesday at 6:00pm in the funeral home, followed by Air Force Military Honors. Interment will be Friday, August 10, 2018 at 9:00am in Pine Grove Cemetery, 329 Main St., Salem. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B102, Danvers, MA 01923.
