My fond memories of Aunt Ida:

1. She enjoyed dancing.
2. She mastered the game of golf after a crash course of learning how to play the
game in a short period of time.
3. She knew how to accessorize her outfits by making them very stylish.
4. She was there for you when you were down and out especially by helping my
parents during their illnesses.
5. We would talk on the phone for hours discussing movies, actors,...

Prayers for Miss Ida's family. I enjoyed our visits during the short time that I knew her. May God Hold Her in The Palm of His Hand Until You Meet Again.

My sincere condolences to Ida‘s family and friends. Sadly, Ida will be missed, but never forgotten as we remember her in our hearts.
Ida had a gentle Spirit and a loving Heart. Her kindness was infectious.
We can find comfort in knowing that we will see her again someday.

My heart is broken...my friend my sidekick, my sweet companion to caregive. I will miss our trips to watch the golfers at DelCastle, our trips through the city, lunches at all your favorite places, going for ice cream, listening to the Italian Classic songs and dancing in our chairs at breakfast. Most of all I will miss your hugs and your kiss good night while tucking you in my sweet lady. May you finally have your peace with the Communion of Saints and rest for all eternity in the arms of...

My deepest sympathies to my cousin Sharon and Ron. Everyone knows what a bright shining star Aunt Ida was, and we will certainly miss her smiling face, charm, and love. She was a great matriarch to the family, and she will always be remembered for her loving ways. God bless you and and may you rest in peace with uncle Joe. Loving you always, Michael and Janice.

Obituary

Ida L. (DiEleuterio)'s Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved 97-year-old mother, Ida Fioravanti, on Monday, April 21, 2025 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family.

Ida was born on July 12, 1927, the youngest of eight children to the late John and Concetta (Rapuano) DiEleuterio. She was raised in “Goat City” and attended Wilmington public schools. During World War II she did defense work at Bellanca Aircraft Corporation operating a milling machine making gun turrets for fighter planes. She later worked in sales at Nugent’s Specialty Shop on Market Street before finding her dream job at John Wanamaker’s as Department Head in Ladies Fashions traveling weekly to Philadelphia. In 1952 she married her “knight in shining armor” Joe (Muzzy), had two children and were happily married for 57 years.

In her mid-30s, Ida became interested in the game of golf at the insistence of her brother, golf pro Paul (Bailey) DiEleuterio, who also instilled a fierce competitive spirit. The golf bug resulted in the family becoming members of Cavalier’s Country Club and Ida joining the Ladies 18 Hole Golf Association, where she won the Club Championship in 1965, 1970, and at Delcastle in 1974 and 1976. She also enjoyed music, dancing, and going to the movies.

Ida’s journey through life was one of faith, love, and gratitude. She always had a kind word for anyone who needed understanding and encouragement. Above all things Ida was an endlessly loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt who deeply treasured time spent with her family.

Ida will be truly missed by her daughter Sharon Cordrey (Bob), and son Ronald, Megan Fioravanti, Christine Jacob, her grandchildren Keith (Lexie), Jeffrey (Jenn), Kaci, Kelli (Kevin), Thomas “T.J.”, Gabriela (Matthew), and great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Avery, Kate, Carly, Jace, Savannah, Sawyer, Nicholas, Gavin, Elizabeth, and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in April 2010 by her loving husband Joe, and her siblings Albert, Michael, and Paul DiEleuterio, Catherine Cirillo, Marguerite Tango, Elva Ferretti, and Theresa Merlini.

Ida’s family would like to extend their heartfelt love and appreciation to her caregivers who became part of her extended family: Margaret “Irish” Cella, Arlene Barbizzi, and Marcia Ross. In her final days we would also like to thank Accent Care, Dawn Fletcher, Desi Evers, and Clara Escobar for their kindness and compassion.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 10:00-12:00 on Tuesday April 29 at St Catherine of Siena, 2503 Centerville Road, Wilmington, DE. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Ida’s memory can be made to Special Olympics of Delaware, 619 South College Avenue, Newark, DE 19716.
