Irene's Obituary

Irene M. Staponski, 91, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at her home in Kansas City, KS. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Friday, April 10 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3024 N. 53rd St., KC,KS, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Inurnment will follow the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in KC,KS. The family would appreciate donations in her memory to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Christ the King Church in KC,KS. Irene was born Nov. 20, 1923 in Purdy, MO and graduated from Pierce City High School and attended Monett College. She retired from the American Nurses Association as an Accreditation Coordinator in Feb. 1987. She enjoyed her retirement years with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, one brother and one sister. She is survived by four children; Virgil D. and wife Kathryn, Marcia Jennings, and husband, Everett, Rod, and wife, Connie, and Michelle Staponski-Howell, and husband, Dennis; five grandchildren: Virgil II and wife, Kelly, Meghan, Brandy and husband, Shane, Jordan and Alexandra; and five great grandchildren: Jackson, Josie, Julie, Rowan and Virgil III.
