IRENE H. WILLIAMS, a beloved mother, grandmother,and deeply devoted caretaker, transitioned peacefully intoeternal rest on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Community Hospiceafter an extended illness. Born on December 10, 1936, Irenewas the cherished daughter of the late Deacon Willie Hunt andOla Mae Hunt.
Irene’s life was defined by unconditional love and unwaveringdedication, both professionally and personally. She was adedicated employee who retired at the age of 70 from the ToombsNursing Home. Her nurturing spirit was boundless; not only didshe raise her own children, but she also provided loving care fora grandson during his childhood. Her commitment to caretakingwas lifelong, as she was actively caring for her “last baby” up until the age of 85.
On January 15, 1955, she joined in holy matrimony with the lateDeacon Herman Williams, Jr., sharing a devoted marriage of 55years until his passing. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life,first as a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church in JohnsonCorner Community and later moving her membership to FirstAfrican Baptist Church in Lyons, Georgia, where she also servedas mother of the church.
A woman whose heart knew no bounds, Irene was preceded indeath by her loving husband, Herman; three children; motherand father; two sisters, Eloise Hart and Mary Bryant; and onegrandchild, Latonna Williams.
Her legacy of love and family lives on through those who surviveher: five devoted children; three sons, Donnell Williams, KarryWilliams (Silvia), and Tommy Williams; two daughters, BeverlyWilliams and Tammie Johnson (Gregory); 14 grandchildren,Marquis Williams, Jerrico Williams, Olivia Mayweather, KarryWilliams Jr., Tierra Williams, Kourtnee Williams, Devin Williams,Terry Myrick, Duke Denson, Demetrice Williams, Jamie Springer, Lee Brown, Derrick Bonner, and Gregory Johnson III; 38 great-grandchildren, Diamond Williams, Markesia Johnson, MercedesTillman, Marquita Edwards, Marquis Williams, Paiton Williams,Lailon Williams, Kiara Williams, Malaisha Williams, Kari Williams, Karry Williams III, Keyone Williams, Kammari Williams,Jonathan Williams, Jasmin Tillman, Journee Frazier, Keenann Williams, Kobe Williams, Terry Myrick III, Ti’yon Myrick, ShionRawls, Janiya Springer, Shakirra Thompkins, Jamiya Thompkins, Candice Thorpe, Tritanus Springer, Tyler Anthony, Zy’ TaviusPope, Queen Brown, Ah’Riyah Brown, Shantavia Toby, Demetrice Williams, Malayna Williams, Mira Williams, Devion Williams, Dennis Dawson, Jerico Williams, and Jase Williams; 13 great- great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Linda Roberson (Dennis), Mattie Brown, Jewell Drake (Wallace), Maudie Anderson; brothers-In-law, Mack Williams, George Williams, Eugene Bacon, Joe Bacon, and one special nephew, Reverend Gerard Hart.
Irene’s warmth, strength, tireless devotion, and strong workethic will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memorywill be a blessing and a guiding light to her family for generations.
