Not sure what to say?

Hello! I'm Irv's kid sister Rhonda and my husband Michael is sitting in the front row. Thank you for joining us today for my brother's memorial service. We all knew Irv in our own special way. A friend, an uncle, and my big brother. I was always proud of my big brother because he was caring and giving. He didn't just push me in my carriage; he took me on adventures. He didn't mind watching me and even allowed me to climb up his legs and flip over. When he didn't approve of my date, he...

Irv and I would talk on the phone from time to time about any old thing but our conversation would always end up in hysterical laughter. Rhonda and I recently met with Irv’s Saint Pius, the fifth church family. They are very SPECIAL people and Irv fit right in. He is loved and he will be missed. Your brother in law Mike

I will miss our Sunday morning chats and seeing your smiling face at the fish fries. Rest in peace, friend. It was an honor to know you.

By any worldly measure Irv’s life would not be considered a success.
His health issues made it tough to keep a job and he even had a bout with homelessness.
He had an unshakeable faith that carried him through the hardships that he experienced.
Even though he didn’t have much he was grateful for what he had.
He knew that there were others who were worse off than him.
He volunteered at the food pantry and worked at the Church fish fry in service to others.

Irving and I became quite close during the past year. We spoke about his family and his past and current dedication to his Church and parish of St. Pius the Fifth Catholic Church. He is missed by many at St. Pius.
He truly brought the Light of Christ to those who knew him.

My condolences to the Van Duyne family.
