Our deepest sympathy to your family

Our sincere sympathy to you and your family

My sincere sympathy to Isabelle's family. What an amazing, interesting person. My Dad was a very close friend of Gene's, so our family always had a high regard for Isabelle and Gene.

Lori and Jan, just know we are thinking of you at this sad time.

Our deepest sympathy to you and your family

I mourn the loss of my auntie Isabell.I have many photos in my collection from when she was a child till very recently. She was my mother Marie's sister. She had such a fun sense of fashion and style. She wore makup and jewelry very often. I loved her and will miss her.

Obituary

Isabelle's Obituary

Isabelle Labinowicz of Canora and formerly of Mikado passed away peacefully at her home on December 9, 2014, at the age of 89 years. Isabelle was born on February 26, 1925, in the Mazeppa District to Theodore and Stephanie (Gryba) Puteria. As a young girl, she attended the Mazeppa district school, achieving her grade eight education. She then moved with her sister to Prince Albert where she attended school and completed grade ten. She worked at Bishop?s Palace in Prince Albert for quite a number of years before she returned to help on the family farm. Isabelle met the love of her life, Eugene Labinowicz, and they were united in marriage on November 3, 1946 at the St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church in Mikado. Together they purchased their homestead and farmed for a few years before purchasing Gene?s Service & Bulk Fuel Station in Mikado. They were blessed with two daughters: Lori and Jan. They continued running the service station until July 1972 when Eugene suddenly passed away while working at the service station. Isabelle was a very independent person and continued to operate the service station while dispersing the inventory and the bulk station. Eventually, she sold the service station and moved into Mikado. She worked part time at the Mikado General Store for a number of years prior to relocating to Canora, where she resided until her passing. Isabelle was a member of the St. Thomas Altar Society and St. Joseph?s CWL. She was also a member of the parish choir and part time organist in both Mikado and Canora parishes. Her pastimes included sewing, in which she sewed her own clothing, tending to flower and vegetable gardens reading the Reader?s Digest, and playing acoustic guitar at home and at family functions. As well, she loved to cook - and no one could bake a pie like Isabelle! She loved her precious grandsons and instilled in them the love of music, taught Spanish Guitar chords and then encouraged them to take lessons. She attended Jason and Jeff?s many sporting events and school activities. It was also common, that Isabelle would hop on the STC bus and travel to British Columbia to visit her other grandson, Troy, in his many activities. She was their ?Cookie Cat? and was affectionately known to all as ?Granny.? Isabelle will be dearly and sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by her parents: Theodore and Stephanie; her husband Eugene; her three brothers: Edward (Adam), Peter, and John Puteria; and her five sisters: Lillian, Marie, Emily, Nellie, and Lucy. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters: Lori (Bob) Weinreich of New Westminster, BC and Jan (Jerry) Gabora of Canora; her three grandsons: Jason (Ysanne) Gabora of Prince Albert, SK and their children: Arlyn and Preston, Troy Weinreich of New Westminster, BC and Jeff (Shannon Filson) of Regina, SK; and her three sisters: Pauline Ostafie of Sherwood Park, AB, Victoria Young of Lloydminster, SK and Janet Gulak of Mikado, SK. A Vigil of Prayer was held on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 4:00 pm. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 10:00 am both from St. Joseph?s Roman Catholic Church, Canora with Rev. Fr. Franklin Emereuwa, as Celebrant. Rite of Committal followed in the Canora Cemetery. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to St. Joseph?s CWL as tokens of remembrance in memory of Isabelle Labinowicz.
