Jack Baumgartner, III, 83, of Berwick, formerly of Harleysville, passed away July 4, 2016 at Abington Health Lansdale Hospital. He and his wife, Vicki (Curry) Baumgartner, recently observed their 62nd wedding anniversary on June 26th.
Born February 9, 1933 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John Baumgartner, Jr. and Ruth (Schmalenbach) Baumgartner. He was a graduate of Olney High School and received his associate’s degree from Ursinus College. He was also a U. S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Baumgartner was a computer analyst and consultant and was the former president of Elite Data Systems. He was a stock car enthusiast. Jack was a volunteer teacher at Heritage Christian Academy in Berwick for over 10 years and a crossing guard for the Berwick Area School District for 3 years.
A faithful member of Heritage Baptist Church of Berwick, he was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church of Lansdale.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Rev. John Baumgartner and his wife, Virginia, of Berwick; a granddaughter, Brenda Switzer; and three great grandchildren; Nikita, Mark Jr., and Jazlynn.
In addition to his son, Donald Baumgartner who passed away in 2006, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Thomas.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11AM on July 11 at the R. L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 3440 Skippack Pike at Cedars Road, Skippack, where family will receive friends from 10-10:45AM. Burial will follow privately for the family at Whitemarsh Memorial Park. Friends are also invited to attend his memorial service at 7PM on Thursday, July 14th at Heritage Baptist Church, 1112 Butternut St., Berwick, PA 18603.
