1st SGT (Ret.) Jack Dale Franks, Sr., 79, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Vista Care at Franciscan Woods.Mr. Franks was born August 9, 1932 in Lawrenceburg, TN son of the late Ralph Q. and Ella Johnson Franks. He retired after 21 years as a 1st Sergeant in the U.S. Army. He later started the Security Program for the Medical Center for ten years and was an auctioneer with Wayne Evans. He was also a Protestant by faith.Survivors include his wife, Frances May Franks of Columbus, GA, sons, Jack Franks, Jr. (Georgia) of Phenix City, AL and William Franks (Ester) of Columbus, GA, daughters, Debbie Walker (Wayne) of Warner Robins, GA and Tammy Compton (Tony) of Jacksonville, AR, sisters, Ann Cooper of Trenton, TN, Margaret Swett of Newark, NJ and Marty Crouch (Jim) of Dallas, TX, brother, B.C. Franks of Bath Springs, TN, 13 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Vista Care 100 Brookstone Ctr.
