Jack's Obituary

Jack F Reed, 94, of Spearman passed away on March 27, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas. Viewing will be on Wednesday, April 1,2026 and Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Spearman. Graveside services will be on Friday April 3, 2026, 10:30 a.m. at the Hansford Cemetery with Rev. John Scott officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.

Jack was born on December 13,1931 in Sherman County, Texas, to Glenn Reed and Ione Fellers Reed. Jack and Gwendolene Pearson were married on December 31, 1953, in Clayton, New Mexico.

Jack was a farmer and rancher, but he loved being a cowboy his whole life.   He was a very lovable husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather and great-great grandfather.  He loved them all deeply.  Jack and Gwendolene loved horse races so much that they moved to Arkansas when they retired. 

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brothers, Carroll and Bill Reed, his sister, Cynthia Schoenhals, niece, Cary, and nephew, Rick Reed.

Jack is survived by his two daughters, DeAnn Long (Jarrell) of Lake Whitney, TX., Lynda Jarrell (Jim) of Ft. Worth, TX., son, Butch Reed (Debbie) of Spearman, TX., and special niece Melinda Hopper of St. Petersburg, FL. He is also survived by Grandchildren, Ryan Long (Kacey), Eric Cartrite (Justin), Jaren Cartrite, Nicole Jicha (Jason), Jacklinn Sotello (Michael), Kyla Ripperger (Daniel), great-grandchildren, Gwyn Foster, Chandler Smith, Reed Ripperger and Rylee Ripperger and great-great- grandchild, Joy Smith. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

 Family suggests memorials to Kinder Hearts Hospice, 1901 Medi Park Dr. STE 1030, Amarillo, Texas,79106.
