Jacob W. Burkett, Sr.

Jacob. W. Burkett, Sr., 78, of Blue Ridge, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 1, 2015. He was a carpenter and welder by trade. Jacob is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty Clark Burkett; one son, Jacob W. Burkett, Jr.; four grandchildren, Samantha Cabaniss (Stephen), Christopher, Cody and Dylan; his sister, Christine B. Mottesheard; and his brother, Robert M. Burkett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Lillian Burkett; and a sister, Nancy Z. McGlocklin. A funeral service will be held at 12:00PM on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Oakey?s East Chapel with the Rev. Herb Shaffer officiating. Interment will follow at 3PM at the Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery, Stuart, VA with Military Honors by the U. S. Army. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 PM and again on Monday from 10AM till service time. Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to the First Wesleyan Church or to the Burke Mottesheard Criminal Justice Scholarship Fund at New River Community College in Dublin, VA.
