Jacqueline Ruth Carpenter Dunn passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, surrounded by her four daughters and many loved ones on the other side, including her eternal companion who loved her deeply, and was, no doubt, anxious for their reunion. Jackie was a light in this world and will be sorely missed. Jacqueline (Jackie) was born on March 29, 1951, to Robert and Leone Carpenter in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the fourth of eight children. As a family, they worked hard together and loved each other very much.Jackie was born with many talents and abilities which she nurtured and developed over the years. She loved to sing and was part of many singing groups from a young age. She participated in high school choir, Mormon Youth Chorus, various performing groups with friends, and ward choirs. She knew how to play the guitar and, for a time, was part of a neighborhood band that played folk type music. Jackie’s love of music grew and grew. She was especially a fan of musicals, instrumental movie score soundtracks, and the Tabernacle Choir. Among her favorites were the Sound of Music and music from Forrest Gump.In the Mormon Youth Chorus, Jackie met her eternal companion, Stephen Dunn. Although, at the time, she was not very interested in him. Jackie had a prompting to serve the Lord. She faithfully served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to Frankfurt, Germany. She loved her experience and the people there. After her missionary service, Jackie attended BYU for two years. She also started dating Steve again, deciding that he wasn’t so bad and that she loved his sense of humor. Steve and Jackie were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 28, 1974. She chose wisely because Steve loved her with all of his heart and that love never wavered.Steve and Jackie started their family and were blessed with four daughters. As a wife and mother, Jackie continued developing the talents and abilities the Lord gave her. Jackie was an excellent seamstress; she sewed many detailed dresses and intricate dolls. She created fabulous Halloween costumes, and also decorations for the Fall and Christmas. She sewed fancy draperies for clients and loved to make beautiful quilts.Jackie was great at baking and canning. We all loved her homemade rolls and breads, and her treats like chocolate cake, cinnamon rolls, and pumpkin bread. She always took the time to make us layered cakes from scratch for our birthdays. We spent hours together helping her prepare and preserve cherries, peaches, apples, grape juices, and other fruit that we had grown in the garden.Jackie was a talented artist. She loved animals and painted them often. Her ability was amazing, and she often sold those paintings for extra income. She also loved painting ceramics; she painted ceramic animals for her girls and created beautiful nativities for her family. She loved tole-painting (on wood) and could paint with great detail.Jackie was an excellent fly-fisher, her patience and skill helped her to out fish Steve quite often. She and Steve loved to fish the Green River below Flaming Gorge. She loved nature, and as a family, we all enjoyed many camping and fishing trips together.Jackie had a special relationship with her daughter Melissa. They were best friends and had many adventures together. They enjoyed going shopping, to the movies, and took many trips to Disneyland together.Above all, Jackie was an angel here on earth. Everyone who got to know Jackie loved and admired her. The light of her spirit drew people to her. She was patient and kind. She never complained. She worked hard. She was humble. She served those around her. She was a true example of charity and Christ-like love.As Alzheimer's slowly took Jackie’s abilities away, her sweet spirit endured. When someone would enter the room, her eyes would light up and she would smile. And even though she couldn’t communicate well, you could still feel how lovely Jackie was. She was beautiful inside and out! She was greatly loved by family, friends, and also all those who were able to serve her in these final years.Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Leone, her brother Robert Allred Jr, and her eternal sweetheart, Steve.Jackie is survived by siblings; Sue (Dave), Gerry (Dave), Mark (Rosie), Becky (John), Kathy (Steve), Matthew (Shelley); Steve's siblings, Phillip (Julie), Anne (Doug), Jayne (Mike) and brother Paul's wife Charlene; daughters, Jenn (Scott), Melissa, Megan (Dax), Catie (Shelby); grandkids, Ethan (Malaiyah), Taya, Noah, Daisy, Tyler, Ashlin (Jesse), Kelsie (Austin), and great grandson, Oliver. We express deep gratitude and sincere thanks to the Staff at Legacy House of Park Lane, Aspire Home Health and Hospice, and Generations Case Management for their compassionate care of Jackie.
