James B. Porterfield

James B. Porterfield age 90 of the Norene Community, died Thursday morning, May 15, 2025 at his residence. Born Jan. 6, 1935, he was the son of the late Doyle W. Porterfield and Hassell Cunningham Porterfield. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann Beadle Porterfield in 2019.

James was a graduate of Watertown High School and received his degree in Civil Engineering from Tennessee Tech. He was a structural engineer for NASA and a US Navy veteran.

James is survived by his son, Scott Porterfield (Lisa Wright) of Norene; granddaughters, Emily Weber (Mitch) of Atlanta and Drew Porterfield and her son, Porter Mateer of Orlando, FL; a cousin, Ruth Correll and many other cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday May 18, 2025 at Hunter Funeral Home with Bro. Chuck Groover officiating.  Visitation will be on Saturday from 3-7 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. till service time. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Norene.
