James's Obituary

QUEENSBURY --- James “Jimmy” V. Cusanelli, 82, of Queensbury, NY passed away after a long illness on October 14, 2023, with his family at his side.

Jimmy was born on September 7, 1941, in Jersey City, New Jersey to James and Clara (Protzmann) Cusanelli.  He served in the US Navy from 1960 to 1964.  He was proud of his years as a Signalman on the USS Forrestal.

After his time in the service, he returned to New Jersey and was employed by Ward Trucking as a driver.  He celebrated 26 years before retiring and relocating to Lake George with his wife and daughters.  He loved the area and the outdoor activities it offered.  Some of his favorites were sailing, fishing, snowmobiling, boating and hunting.

He and his wife Rita opened and operated RJ Annie’s Confectionery Delights and were known for their friendly service and their delicious caramel corn, candy apples, fudge and other confections. They met many customers who became friends over the 16 years of its operation. Jimmy opened a second candy store, Sweet & Sweeter, which he operated for 2 additional years.

Many hours spent driving around the beautiful Adirondacks and fishing its bodies of water was his favorite way to spend his later years.

He is survived by his ex-wife, Rita Cusanelli, who over the years remained a good friend; his daughters, Christine (Mack) Hoard and her husband Frank, Debi (Mack) Buttino and her husband Nick; as well as his four grandchildren whom he was very proud of, Marisa Hoard, Kyle Hoard, Tia Buttino and Dante Buttino.

On October 26, 2023, as per his wish, he was laid to rest at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

Donations in his name may be made to your local food pantry, library, or charity of your choice.

Condolences may be sent directly to Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804, or through www.bakerfuneralhome.com.
