Jimmy was always a kind soul and an Easy smile. He was gracious and kind to Everyone he met. My sincere condolences to his wife, Rita and his family father, their great loss, sorrow and pain.

James P. Donovan – Of Fitchburg, formerly of Somerville, affectionately known as Jimmy, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 66 years young.
Born, raised and educated in Somerville, he was the loving son of the late Daniel J. and Katherine (Noonan) Donovan.
Jimmy had a long and successful career as a postal worker at the Arlington Post Office. After retiring, he and his wife began their own business dedicated to helping families with children who have learning disabilities. His kind and gentle nature extended beyond people. Jimmy had a deep love for animals and was always willing to lend a helping hand to any creature in need. He was also an avid sports fan, especially of his beloved Boston teams. Whenever a game was on, you could find him cheering them on enthusiastically from his living room. Beloved wife of to Rita (Lally) Donovan with whom he shared 28 beautiful years together.

Calling Hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Thursday, November 20th from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. Relatives and friends invited to attend. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford on Friday, November 21st at 11:00AM, please meet directly at church.
Burial will be private.
