James Edward "Ed"'s Obituary

James "Ed" Edward Van Deman died September 9, 2017. He was born January 25, 1933 in Monticello, Indiana to the late James William and Alma Laverne (Fry) Van Deman. Mr. Van Deman proudly served our country in the U.S. Marines. He attended Wabash College, Purdue, and later Ole Miss, where he obtained his Master's in Education. His love of sports drove him to become a football, basketball, and track coach. He was an avid Purdue fan. An educator for 35 years, he taught History, Social Studies, Math, and college education courses in Mississippi, Indiana, and Florida.Mr. Van Deman is survived by his wife of 54 years, Verna Van Deman; sons, Scott Van Deman, of Tallahassee and Edward "Ted" Van Deman (Robin), of Okeechobee; grandson, Jonathan Van Deman, of Okeechobee; and brother, William Van Deman (Joyce), of Monticello, Indiana.Memorial services will be held 7 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2017 at Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor John Hurst officiating.Those wishing to leave a message of condolence may sign the register book at, www.OkeechobeeFuneralHome.comArrangements are entrusted to the direction and care of the Buxton & Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home, Okeechobee, Florida.Graveside services will be at Riverview Cemetery in Monticello, IN on November 21, 2017 with Rev.
