With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James Brian Farley of San Antonio, Texas, who left this world peacefully at the age of 74, on Friday, February 6, 2026.
Brian was a quiet and introspective man who found meaning in observation, painting, and cooking. He had a deep appreciation for music, especially jazz, which often played in the background of his daily life. In his younger years, Brian enjoyed painting, and later developed a love for photography. He also took great pride in tending to the roses and plants in the front of his home and was known to be a good cook. In later years, he tenderly served as caregiver to his mother until her passing.
After graduating in 1969 from Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio, Brian went on to attend San Antonio Community College.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and James Farley, and his younger sister, Patricia Farley.
He is survived by his younger brothers Dennis Farley of Temple, Texas and John (Sharla) Farley from Columbus, Georgia, his aunt Evelyn Lynch of Temple, Texas, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Brian also leaves behind cherished, enduring friendships with Danny Boskind, Ross and Beth Laughead, and Ida and Adam Ortiz, all with whom he shared close and meaningful bonds.
A graveside service will be held in Brian’s honor at 10:00am Thursday, February 12th, 2026 at Mission Burial Park South. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Brian’s name to PBS Broadcasting.
