James R Gilley, Sr.

James R. Gilley, Sr., 78, of Bassett, died Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.  He was born in Critz on March 12, 1939 to the late Andrew Gilley and the late Lillian Gilley.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Gilley and a sister, Mildred Gilley.  

He was a U. S. Army veteran. 

He is survived by four children, Connie Beckner, James R. Gilley, Jr., Edward Michael Wayne Philpott and Teresa C. Gilley; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two brothers, Elwood Gilley and Allen Gilley; four sisters, Clovis Martin, Lucille Sowers, Ida Helton and DeLois Wagoner; several nieces and nephews.
