James R. Hanson, age 77, passed away August 18, 2025. James was born December 5, 1947 to Roy and Mary (nee Mulrow). He was married to Cynthia (nee Krueger) for 36 years and raised 2 children, Erik and Erin. He was later married to Maria (nee Rosado).Jimmy loved hanging with family and playing games, including cards, ping pong, video games, and bags. He was as quick with a joke as he was to help anyone. He coached baseball, softball, and football, and volunteered with the Boy Scouts. James was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for the Daily Southtown for 33 years and retired from Liberty Newspapers. James is survived by his wife Maria, children Erik (Mandy) Hanson, Erin (Brian) Wiencek, and grandchildren Henry and Quinn Hanson and Casey and Camden Wiencek, step-children Tony (Roxana) Santiago and Denise (Carlos) Chavira, siblings Ronald (late Linda) Hanson and Diane (Robert) Cole, sisters-in-law Geraldine Hanson, Barbara Klinowski, and Melissa (Rick) Terkovich, and many neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Mary, son Aaron, wife Cynthia, siblings Peggy (Jack) Muldowney, Roy Hanson, John (Donna) Hanson, Noreen Hanson, and Richard Hanson.
