James Edward “Jimbo” Harmon, Sr., 70 of Roanoke, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James H. and Sadie Bell Harmon; and a brother, Lester “Bucky” Harmon.
He proudly served his Country during Vietnam in the USMC. He enjoyed working; during his active years the places he worked included GE, N&W Railroad, The Poff Building and Coyner Springs.
Jimbo enjoyed fishing and bowling and was a devoted Redskins fan.
He is survived by his two children, Holly Humphreys (Bryan) and James E. “Jimmy” Harmon, Jr., (Danielle); two grandchildren, Owen Humphreys and Caden Harmon; his sister, Gloria Wright (Raymond); and his brother, William “Bill” Harmon (Linda).
A graveside service with military honors will be held 11:00 Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton.his family would like to thank the Virginia Veterans Care Center for all of the care they gave him. And asked that in lieu of flowers memorials be made in his name to them.
His family will receive friends on Monday, May 21, 2018 from 5-7 PM at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel.
