James Gilbert Helton, Sr.

James Gilbert Helton, Jr., age 70 of Lynch, KY, passed away on Wednesday, December 04, 2013, at his residence. He was born January 07, 1943 to the late Gilbert Sr. and Pauline Williams Helton in Lynch, KY. James worked 36 years as a coal miner with US Steel, Arch of KY and Lone Mountain Processing. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam conflict and believed in the Church of God of Prophecy faith.He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Nawana Whited Helton; sons, James Gilbert Helton III (Kathy) of Virgina, William Helton (Michelle) of Virginia, and Tim Helton (Crystal) of North Carolina; brother, Donald Helton (Wanda) of Cumberland; sister Sheila Sawyers of Lexington; grandchildren, William, Erin and Brittany; great grandchild, Chloe; and many other family and friends.The family will receive friends in the Chapel of the Tri City Funeral Home in Benham, KY on Saturday, December 07, 2013, between 5 pm – 7 pm. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 7 pm with Reverend Mae Bailey officiating. Interment will be held on Monday, December 09, 2013, at 11 am in the Resthaven Cemetery at Loyall, KY. With full military honors by the Harlan Honor Guard. Anyone wishing to follow the funeral procession to the cemetery may meet at the funeral home at 10 am. Harlan Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers.
