Not sure what to say?

Paula and family,
So sorry to hear about the loss of your brother, may you always cherish the wonderful memories.

Rest in paradise jimmy ❤
I’m so very sorry

To my friend God has taken you to a better place so until we meet again it was a pleasure getting to know you and your family ❤

My dear cousin Jimmy was such a nice guy, and he will be dearly missed! My thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family. Love, Dee and Chris

My condolences to James’ children, siblings, and his other family members and friends. As my cousin who was only four months younger than myself we formed a nice friendship, especially as children and teenagers, as my family would visit from Virginia to Massachusetts every year or two. James was always such a nice and fun person. Rest in peace, James.
Love,
...

To the family of my beloved cousin Jim Holmes,
I extend my condolences to all of you. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. May he and all of the faithfully departed rest and peace.
Love,
Lawrence L Holmes, Jr

Jim was always a loving & caring human being. He was always very loving to everyone he knew. I have nothing but wonderful memories. God bless Jim & his kids. ❤❤❤

Brian I'm not sure if you remember me, we went to school together and dated for a little while when we attended Western Jr. High School. I just read about your brother and I wanted to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Will always treasure the memories of Jim, my cousin. Heartfelt sympathy to Lenore, Paula & Brian in the loss of your brother and to his family.

Obituary

James's Obituary

James J. "Jim" Holmes of Mansfield, formerly of Somerville, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, after a long courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Despite his illness, Jim never lost his sense of humor or positive attitude, always making his visitors laugh and never losing his beautiful smile. Jim's children were the light of his life.

Jim grew up in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School. He furthered his education at Northeastern University. He worked for many years as head of security at Lesley College. Jim loved the New England Patriots, Bruins, and Celtics, enjoyed trips to the casino, and cherished family vacations to Cape Cod.

He was the loving father of Jessi, Jake, and James Holmes. Former husband of Diane Holmes. Jim was the beloved son of the late James and Claire, and dear brother of Lenore Martin of Somerville, Brian Holmes and his wife Dawn and Paula Serratelli, both of Georgia. He was a cherished friend of Britta and Joe Harrold and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours for Jim will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 2:00 - 5:00, with a Prayer service at 3:30. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jim's memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
