James Kennedy Hudson

August 12th, 1943 – February 5th, 2026

God said you were getting weary, so he did what he thought was best. He came and stood

beside you and whispered, “come and rest.”

James Kennedy Hudson was born August 12th,1943, in Oakland, KY. He was the 5th child born to James and Roebell Hudson.

James graduated from High Street High School in 1961. He left home and went to Louisville, Kentucky, to study Mortuary Science. After some time, he would pursue other careers. He worked for Western Electric, in the 60’s and 70’s.  Additionally, he worked as a supervisor at Indianapolis Airport. He subsequently owned a commercial cleaning service.

James enjoyed listening to music. His favorite artist was James Cleveland. He toured with gospel singer Shirley Caesar for two years.

James loved his family and his god-son. He had nicknames for some of his siblings. Shirley, (Flug), and Judy, (Miss. Pearl).

He pursued love, peace, joy and harmony in our family. James was very comical and he was a joy to have as a brother. He will be truly missed.

James is preceded in death by his parents, two older brothers, Chalmus and Wayne Allen, sisters, Arnetta, Alphonso, Sue Helen, Maggie Nan and Gianna Marie.

He leaves to mourn his loss, god-son, Marlon McElwain, of Indianapolis, IND.; four sisters, Shirley Jackson, Fort Wayne, IND.; Virginia Humphrey, Bowling Green, KY; Bruce Boggard, Edina, MN; Judy Adeleke, Atlanta, GA; and one brother John Hudson, Atlanta, GA.  Additionally, he will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, a host of friends and loved ones.

A precious one has gone from us

A voice we loved is stilled

A void will be in our hearts

Which can never be filled

We love you, dear brother.
