James Alvin Hunt Jr., age 46, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, grandson, uncle, and friend, passed away on June 15th, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
James was born at Lumberton Hospital on October 12, 1978, to his birthmother, Lizzie Oxendine. He grew up surrounded by the love of his family, including his sisters: Lisa Cox (Wallace) and Lashawn Willoughby (Darrell), and his brothers: Chris Hammonds (Melody), Al Ross Hunt (Carlie), Derek Oxendine, and Arthur Oxendine.
James was a man whose kindness, strength, and warm heart left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was deeply loved by his family and cherished by countless friends.
James is survived by his devoted wife, Chandra Graham-Hunt; his two daughters, Jarrah Noré Hunt (Dekota) and Jayda Nicholette Hunt; his son, Conner Jacobs; his special granddaughter, Jaylee Nichole Hunt, who brought him endless joy and smiles; and his grandmother, Margaret Norton.
He now joins his loving parents, Doris Hunt and James Alvin Hunt, Sr., who welcomed him into heaven with open arms.
James loved fishing with his family and friends. He was an avid fan of the UNC Tar Heels and the LA Lakers. He enjoyed playing golf with his dad and brothers, and especially loved traveling with family. James spent many hours cooking for and hosting his friends and family for special events.
James will be remembered for his generous spirit, his unwavering support, and the way he made every gathering brighter with his presence. His legacy of love and family will continue to live on through those who knew him best.
He will be missed beyond measure and forever held close in the hearts of all who loved him.
The visitation will be Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens in Lumberton, NC.
