James (Jim) Reinholdt Obituary

James (Jim) Harland Reinholdt went to be with the Lord on November 4th, 2021. He was born on January 22, 1938 in Sanish, North Dakota to Harland (Harley) and Doris (Dodie) Reinholdt (nee Shobe). They moved to Washington State in 1943 where Harley worked in the shipyards during WWll. After the war, they moved to their permanent residence in Longview, WA.

Jim watched the neighborhood kids after school for a part time job and earned his Eagle Scout Badge. He graduated as class president from RA Long High School in 1956, attended Lower Columbia College briefly and then enrolled in The Lutheran Bible Institute in Seattle, WA where he would meet the love of his life, Gloria. He and Gloria (nee Mork) were married in Ferndale, WA on August 1st, 1959. God blessed them with a son, Corey James in 1964 and after a year and a half of owning Politos Donut Shop in Seattle, moved to St. Louis in 1965 for Jim to open and manage a Perkins Pancake House. God then blessed them with a daughter, Jessica Eden.

Jim worked for 25 years at Perkins and was a member of the Missouri Restaurant Association. He then worked at Smith-Scharff Paper Company where he was a sales representative supplying restaurants with disposable products until he retired at 70 years of age. One of his favorite things about all his work was the friendships that were made.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harland and Doris Reinholdt, brother David Reinholdt, and wife Gloria Reinholdt.

He leaves behind his son, Corey (Vickie) Reinholdt and daughter Jessica (Craig) Roberts; 8 grandchildren, Sonja (Josh) Bauer, Lindsey (Brandon) Alexander, Danielle Reinholdt, Kate (Darren) LeBeau, Hannah (Cody) Soest, Jamie Roberts. Caleb Reinholdt, and Mitchell Roberts; 7 great grandchildren, Josie, Madeline, Preston Bauer, Declan and Rowen Alexander, Samuel, Lydia (and one on the way) Soest; 2 brothers, Thomas Reinholdt and Gerald (Terry) Reinholdt.

He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. He will be missed by many.

~ To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

I love you so much Uncle Jim. I will forever cherish the times my brother and sister and I got to spend with you. Every time you’d come to fish with my dad, I could never get to sleep until I’d hear you and my dad return home from the airport. I loved how you’d share a room with my sister and I. You always made us feel so special. Also one of my favorite memories is when Hannah and I came to St. Lois with Grandma and we were supposed to all go camping with our cousins. After you saw thunder and lightning in the forecast you quickly put a stop to our plans, and you were so frustrated that we didn’t understand why you’d do such a thing. You said to me, “don’t you tell your dad about what I did”. I did keep it a secret for many years. Please give Grandma and Grandpa, uncle Dave, and aunt Gloria my love. I miss you all so much. Rest In Peace uncle Jim, I hope you catch some big fish up there. Sending all my sympathy to you and yours Jess and Corey. I love you guys.

Sending sympathy to Jim's family! He and Gloria were prayer warriors and great friends for many years. With Gloria, Fran Werner, Kathy Rayfield and Martha Delmez we were the 5 Smooth Stones that stormed heaven for our families and for the kingdom to reign on earth as it is in heaven. Jim was always there to cheer us on and love God too! Hugs to all from Kansas.

I am so sorry I won't be able to join you for the memorial service.
I would love to have a chance to give Corey and Jessica a hug, and share the moment to enjoy all of what Jim brought to us. I will especially remember his prayers for the 5 smooth stones, his wonderful Steelhead Trout that he brought back from Washington, his special care for your mother and his always present smile and love of the Lord!

So long Jim, dear friend. We have shared some wonderful memories along with Gloria and Jutta in Saint Louis, during our earlier life. We have seen our children grow together. We did our best. God be with you.

I actually loved a man that I never met. He kept me laughing through his daughter Jessica who kept me with great stories from her and her brother Corey stories. Just based on this in my eye's he meant well to everyone he came across. I'm gonna miss your stories Mr. Jim but I know your in a better place along with the love of your life. I'm praying that the family can get pass this terrible time. I love you all and you are in my prayers

Jimmy was a wonderful nephew to my mom. He visited her in her assisted living facility several times a week. I will be forever grateful to him for that.
