James (Jim) L. Solomon, 62 of Odessa, DE passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Seasons Hospice at Christiana Hospital.Born in Newport, New Jersey on January 25, 1954 to the late Minerva Alcorn and James L. Solomon Sr., Jim spent most of his life in southern New Jersey moving to Delaware in 1998. In 1999, he married his wife Ruth Anne Christensen. Jim and Ruth Anne lived in Wilmington before moving to Odessa in 2010. Jim was a HVAC Technician by trade and retired in 2011 from Star Gas Co. He enjoyed his work and received many positive comments from his customers. He was an avid vegetable gardener and was looking forward to and planning for this year's garden. He enjoyed doing "projects" around the house and yard. Jim and Ruth Anne also worked together on many craft projects. In recent years, he enjoyed playing games on the internet and having a group of gaming friends. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister Margie Donohue. Jim is survived by this wife Ruth Anne; four children Melly (Billy) Fowler of Hopewell Township, NJ, James Solomon III of Millville, NJ, Stephanie (Kenneth) Hiles of Dividing Creek, NJ and Tyler C. Solomon of Odessa, DE; three sisters Mary Wangstrom, Shirley Rayford and Nora Lanlin all of Millville, NJ and two grandchildren Bobby and Gianna Caine.The family would like to thank Dr. Kehagias and staff at First State Family Practice for their wonderful care of Jim.Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a viewing on Sunday, March 6th from 3-4 pm at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE. Graveside service and Interment will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Cedarville, NJ in April.
