Obituary

James "Jimmie"'s Obituary

James “Jimmie” Otis Marshall, Jr., 87 of Hillsville, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at Heritage Hall Laurel Meadows.  Mr. Marshall was born in Carroll County to the late James O. Marshall, Sr. and Varina Goad Marshall.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Gaye Vass Marshall and siblings, Pauline Brady and Dale Marshall.

Jimmie was a manager at Bassett-Walker in Hillsville for many years.  He enjoyed his family, church, singing hymns, and gardening.  The family would like to express a special thank you to all his caregivers throughout the past several years.

Survivors include his daughters, Donna Monday (Bo) and Diana Knowles (Richard); grandchildren, Bethany Hinkley (Derek), Aaron Pack (Christina) and Hannah Monday; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 AM with Pastor Aaron Pack and Elder Tim McGrady officiating.  Burial will follow in the Shockley Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:30 until 11:00 AM prior to the funeral service.  Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
