James's Obituary

May 14, 1964 - December 26, 2025

James (Jim) Kenny, age 61, of Marysvale, Newfoundland, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born on May 14, 1964 to Peter and Ann (Foley) Kenny of Conception Harbour. A hardworking man, Jim spent 30 years working as an electrician on many different projects, making friends with everyone along the way.  Laughter followed him wherever he went.  Jim loved to crack a joke or make a face, and his sense of humour was one of his greatest gifts.

Jim was always on the go. Always out for a drive, stopping into his family's homes – often by surprise but always warmly welcomed.

He loved and was loved by all.

Jim leaves this earth to be reunited in heaven with his parents: Peter and Ann (Foley) Kenny; brothers: George and Rodney Kenny; father-in-law: Richard Bartlett; sister-in-law: Mary Dalton; brother-in-law: Michael Bartlett.

Jim leaves behind, with broken hearts, his loving wife, Margaret (Susie) Bartlett-Kenny; cherished sons: Brent and Blake; mother-in-law: Agnes Bartlett; brothers and sister: Butch (Marg), Roseanne (Bill), Peter (Marge), and Rick (Brenda); brothers-in-law: Vince (Gail Simms) Bartlett, Richard (Regina) Bartlett, and Dan Dalton.  Also many beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives, and dear friends.

The family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support from family, neighbours and friends.  A special thank you is extended to the extraordinary people who cared for Jim during his illness, especially the compassionate doctors and nurses at Carbonear General Hospital.

Visitation will be at Flaherty’s Memorial Funeral Home, 70 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Harbour with visitation on Friday, January 2nd, 2026, 10:00am - 9:00pm.  Mass will take place at Our Lady of the Snows Church, Marysvale, Saturday, January 3rd at 11:00am.

Cremation has taken place, with inurnment to follow at a later date.

Donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, to a charity of one’s choice, or by stopping to have a chat with those you meet, just as Jim would have done.
