Mrs. Donna and Sean would always share stories about James and I felt like I knew him even though I never met him. Losing a father is really hard, and I’m here for y’all. I’m so sorry for y’all’s loss. Wishing y’all peace and comfort in this time of loss.

James Todd Mounts, 50, of Sidney, KY, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2025. James was born October 7, 1974, in South Williamson, KY, the son of the late Wendell Gene Mounts and Lozenna Smith Mounts. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Greg Mounts and sister and brother-in-law, Carol (Charles) Westendorf. James was an electrician for Alpha Coal Mines. Survivors include one son, James Dakota Mounts of Sidney, KY; two very special nieces that he raised as his own, Hannah Smith and Takara Smith; other nieces and nephews, Jessie Westendorf, Erin Madden, Candy Mounts, Bobbie Mounts, Shawn Mounts, Charles Westendorf and Sean Madden; siblings, LeeAnn Smith, Donna (Lanny) Madden, Mitchell (Mary) Mounts; sister-in-law, Judy Mounts and a host of other family and friends. Visitation for James will be held Friday, July 18, 2025, from 6 - 9 PM at the Sidney Missionary Baptist Church with special services at 7 pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025, beginning at 11 am at the church with Shawn Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the Family Cemetery, Sidney, KY, with James Mounts, Cahill Russell, Isaac Triplett, Tracy Ireson and other family and friends serving as pallbearers. R. E.
