Attica - James Harold Neyhart, 72, Attica, passed away quietly at his home, with his family by his side, on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at 7:15 a.m. James was born in Gary, Indiana on October 11, 1952. He was the son of the late David Thomas and Lillian Rouse (Barney) Neyhart. James was raised in Gary, graduating from Portage High School in 1972. He later moved to Attica in 1996. James worked as a welder and lab technician for Masterguard in Veedersburg and later changed jobs and worked at Thyssen-Krupp in Danville where he retired. James served his country by joining the Marine Corp on September 26, 1981 and at the time of his honorable discharge on June 28, 1984, had attained the rank of Corporal. James was a member of the Christ Gospel Church in Attica. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing. He was a stockcar race fan. On August 20, 1997, James married Minnie “Cookie” E. Neyhart in Danville, IL. He leaves behind his wife, Minnie of 28 years and six daughters, Valorie, Carla and Jamie Jo; Latisha Davis, Tucson, AZ; Waco Neyhart, Cincinnati, OH and Shawna Neyhart, Attica; two brothers, Carl “Butch” Neyhart, Hobart, IN and Allen (Deb) Neyhart, Lake Station, IN; a sister, Melissa of Chicago, IL; several grandchildren and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin Neyhart and Cecil Neyhart; an infant brother, Timothy Neyhart and a sister, Carol Neyhart. Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Monday, September 22nd from 11:00 a.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Billy Scroggins officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christ Gospel Church.
