Greatest motorcycle mechanic ever great person

Nitro was a old friend of mine who got me interested in the Norsemen Mc. He was a very knowledgeable person and will be greatly missed RlP.

Obituary

James "Nitro"'s Obituary

James “Nitro” Hansen, 65, of Esmond, ND, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 23, 2025 at his home in Isabel Township.  A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 PM Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Maddock Community Center in Maddock.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Vasa Lutheran Cemetery Fund: 4379 46th Street NE Esmond, ND 58332.   

James Paul Hansen was born January 4, 1960 to Walter “Bud” and Laura (Stevens) Hansen in Maddock, ND.  He was educated in Maddock, where he was active in FFA.  James graduated from Maddock High School with the class of 1978 as Homecoming King and class Valedictorian.  He furthered his education at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND. 

James moved to Minot, ND following college, where he owned and operated his motorcycle repair business, Hansen Cycle Repair. He met Wanda Armstrong in Minot and the two moved to Esmond where James continued his motorcycle repair business from his farm.  The couple was married in Esmond in 1982 and welcomed two sons, Casey and Corey.

James was a proud founding member of the Norsemen Motorcycle Club, coordinating and raising funds for countless charities, for over 42 years.  He was an avid motorcyclist, a collector of antique items, and enjoyed working on his farm.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

James is survived by his sons, Casey of Fargo, ND and Corey of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Locke Hansen and Ophelia Hansen; siblings Frederick (Jinky) Hansen of Mountain House, CA, Susan (Robert) Ruud of Harwood, ND and Marie (Alex) Lawson of Pawleys Island, SC; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter ad Laura Hansen; sister, Sheila Hanna; numerous aunts and uncles.
