James's Obituary

Deacon James Edward Outler of Vidalia, Georgia was born November 1, 1940, to the parentage of Mr. Thomas Jefferson Outlaw and Mrs. Henry Anna Nails Outlaw. He was the youngest of 12 children, 10 of which preceded him in death. 

Deacon Outler attended the Lyons Industrial High School after which he started his first trucking job with The Overnight Company. He later began his career as a truck driver for Piggly Wiggly Southern Company. After retirement from trucking, Deacon Outler continued to be a full-time entrepreneur of his own company Outler & Sons Landscaping.

Deacon Outler was a soft-spoken, kindhearted man who loved his family and always helped them and strangers alike. His hobbies included racing cars and collecting guns.

He was a member of the Central COGIC under the leadership of Bishop Annanis Phillips. When Bishop Phillips started Evergreen COGIC, he moved his membership, which is now Evergreen Truevine Holiness unto the Lord until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 10 siblings and a son, Jamie Outler.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Outler; loving daughter, Cynthia Outler-Cook of Vidalia, GA; two devoted sons, Edward Dewayne Outler (Sylvia) of Vidalia, GA and Tracy Adams of Atlanta, GA; three step children; daughter in law, Melanie Outler, an adoring sister, Estella Outler-Joyner of McCall, SC, 6 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
