James D. Shults, 85, of Grinnell, died Thursday, February 26, 2026, at UnityPoint-Grinnell.
Services are pending at this time.
Jim was born on October 6, 1940, to Agnes Lincoln in Grinnell, Iowa. He was later adopted by Frank Shults. He attended the Grinnell-Newburg Schools. On October 6, 1989, Jim married Marcia Pope in Grinnell.
He worked in various places from plumbing to auto body work and small engine repair. Jim enjoyed joking around. Jim and Marcia spent countless days relaxing when camping and just enjoying each other’s company. His greatest love was finally belonging to a family and cherished every moment of being part of Marcia’s family.
Jim will be remembered by his two daughters, Wanda and Brenda; his brother, Frank (Sherry) Shults Jr.; niece, Dawn (Joel) Thys and his sisters-in-law, Joan (Gary) Schafbuch, Jean (John) Gryp and Mary Ellen Kriegel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marcia, on September 11, 2021; and daughter, Debra Shults.
