James Clark Summers, Sr.

            James Clark Summers Sr., 80, a resident of Singers Glen, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Harrisonburg Health and Rehab.

            Mr. Summers was born on March 8, 1936 in West Virginia and was the son of the late Eugene Bernard and Mary Louise Bailes Summers. He was a carpenter and drove a truck for many years of his life for North-South Lines.

            In 1981, he married the former Loretta Knight who survives. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Summers.

            Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Jeffrey Summers and wife Thelma of Singers Glen, Patsy Sponaugle and husband Butch of Inwood, WV, James Summers, Jr. “J.C.” and wife Teresa of Mathias, WV, a step-daughter, Lori Cole and husband Richard of Harrisonburg; siblings, Sherman Summers and wife Mildred of Singers Glen, David Summers of Florida, Phyllis Moore of Florida; grandchildren, Christine, Ashley, Stephanie, Michelle Summers, C.J. Keplinger and wife Suzanna; step-grandchildren, Ben Winegard and wife Jenny, Laura Breeden and husband Mike; numerous great grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

            He was preceded in death by a step-son, Dennis Mongold and two sisters, Ann Summers and Margaret Batchler.

            The body was cremated and all services will be private.
