John's Obituary
John Martin Marks, 55, died peacefully in his home on Hilton Head Island, SC, on May 16th, 2017. He was born in Baltimore on May 15th, 1962. An organist and choir director, John studied Church Music at Westminster Choir College and went on to play, direct, and sing in churches in NJ, MD, Washington DC, HHI, and Savannah, GA. John composed song cycles, works for chamber orchestra, and music for Shakespeare's plays, among many other pieces. He enjoyed hot cups of coffee, long conversations with friends, jesting with family; his life was full of love. John is survived by his wife, Jennifer, his stepson, Zachary, his daughter, Alice K.E., and his mother, Alice Smith Marks. Services for John will be held at Saint John's Episcopal Church in Savannah on June 3rd, 2017, at 2:00.
