Mr. James Preston Walters, Sr., age 78, of Fairmont, NC, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2020, peacefully, at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton, NC. He was born on September 28, 1941 in Marion County, SC to the late Roy Thomas Walters and the late Nellie Lucille Jackson Walters.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Joan Renette Walters and Thomas Clarence Walters, and two brothers, Leroy Walters and Wayne Baxley.
He is survived by five sons: James Preston Walters, Jr. of Rose Hill, NC, Steven Lawrence Walters (Loretta) of Lumberton, NC, James Michael Walters (Nichole) of Burlington, NC, Jackie Lynn Walters of Burlington, NC, and Bengi Fields of Pembroke, NC; four daughters: Pamela Carol Sherman (Dan) of Johns Island, SC, June Renee Arington (Ray) of Indian Trail, NC, Debbie Walters Abbott (Kenneth) of Hendersonville, NC, and Angela Reitzel (Doug) of Burlington, NC; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald Walters and Russell Baxley, both of Lumberton, NC; and one sister, Annie Laura Kundert of Lumberton, NC.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
