James "Wayne"'s Obituary

James “Wayne” Farmer, age 79, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026.

Wayne was born on January 11, 1947, in Bonifay, Florida, to the late Buford and Betty Farmer. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Wanda Goddin, Wynola Sue Farmer; his brother, Warren Farmer; and his life partner, Judy Caswell.

He is survived by his brothers, Bill Farmer, Winford Farmer, and Wade Farmer (Joyce), along with many nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.

Wayne attended Walton High School in DeFuniak Springs. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy, a time in his life he often spoke of with great pride, sharing stories of his travels and experiences. After his military service, Wayne worked in the oil fields and later as a commercial truck driver. He understood the value of a hard day’s work and carried that work ethic throughout his life.

Wayne had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping—especially time spent along the Choctawhatchee River with family and friends. Above all, nothing meant more to him than his family. He treasured the time he spent with them and held those moments close to his heart.

In accordance with his wishes, Wayne will be cremated, and no formal service will be held.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of The Terrace at Jay, Florida—especially Kimberly Fretwell—for the kindness, care, and special attention shown to Wayne. They also wish to thank Emerald Coast Hospice for the compassionate care provided during the final stage of his life.

Wayne will be remembered for his quiet strength, his love of family, and the simple, meaningful life he lived
