JAMES A. YUNGMAN

JAMES A. YUNGMAN of Westlake, Ohio, passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 79. 

Jim leaves his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth (Sheedy) Yungman, his children, Tracy Devere (husband Randall), Brian Yungman and Megan Yungman (husband Matthew Eland), as well as his beloved granddaughter, Ella Devere. He is also survived by his sisters, Joan Durigg and Lois Ross (husband Daniel).

A graduate of Kent State University, Jim spent virtually his entire professional career at Schirmer Construction. After starting on a construction crew at Schirmer, Jim eventually became president and co-owner of the company. He oversaw numerous projects across the Greater Cleveland area for clients including the Cleveland Clinic, Oberlin College, The Cleveland Art Museum, Key Bank and the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.

Jim was an avid fisherman, and traveled around the world with friends fishing in Alaska, the Bahamas, Mexico and other destinations. He was also a talented woodworker, building many pieces of furniture. Well known for being unable to sit still, Jim was happiest tinkering and repairing things around the house.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
