Anita Jane (Crockett) Cox, 95, of Newcastle, passed from this life into eternal life, Monday, September 29, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. The daughter of John William “Bill” and Opal (Davis) Crockett, Jane was born July 27, 1930, in Hollis, Oklahoma.
Jane was a graduate of Hollis High School. She also graduated from McMurray College in Abilene, Texas, in 1951, with a degree in mathematics. She went to work after graduation with Shell Oil and Gas Company where she worked as a Calculator before being promoted to Computer. She spent most of her working career with the US Census Bureau where she worked as a supervisor. She was one of the lead positions in the 1990 Census. She retired from the Census Bureau, May 31, 1999, after 27 years of service. She married the love of her life, George Lee Cox, in 1953. They were married for 69 years at his passing in 2022. George and Jane lived in Noble for many years, where they raised their five children. Raising her children and welcoming her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the greatest joys of Jane’s life. Her absence will be strongly felt and she will be greatly missed.
Jane was an active member of the Newcastle United Methodist Church. She possessed a servant’s heart which was displayed in her many hours of volunteering in the church office, providing funeral meals, and organizing and helping with distribution at the food pantry. Jane loved reading and cooking for her family. She loved watching the Dallas Cowboys, OU football, OU softball, and the Thunder.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Lee Cox; a sister Joy Foster and husband, James Harlan; brother, Jimmy Crockett and wife Maxine; brothers-in-law, Jay Cox and Wayne Cox; and a sister-in-law, Edl Mandrano.
She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Leonard of Blanchard and Carol Nelson of Newcastle; three sons, Alan Cox and wife, Angelia, of Russellville, Arkansas, Steven Cox and wife, Pamela, of Norman, and Glenn Cox and wife, Linda, of Enid; eight grandchildren, Brian Cox and wife, Jessica, of Pottsville, Arkansas, Lauren Adkison and husband, Brian, of Russellville, Arkansas, Sarah Cox of Norman, Tyler Cox and wife, Nicole, of Tallahassee, Florida, Ryan Cox and wife, Grace, of Oklahoma City, Amy Hart and husband, Tanner of Sheridan, Wyoming, Meghan Hess and husband, Connor, of Denver, Colorado, and Kailen Stephens and husband, Zack, of Blanchard; twelve great grandchildren, Jaxson, Addi, Avery, Kinleigh, Lennox, Brooks, Carver, Colton, Olivia, Emma, Margaret and Bennett; sisters-in-law, Rosemary Cox, of Lawton and Nancy Day of Denison, Texas; and many other loved ones and friends.
The family suggests donations to Circle of Care Inc., a foster care service, 1501 NW 24th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73106. Viewing will be 11:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the funeral home. The funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M., Friday, October 3, 2025, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Interment will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery.
