Janie McDuffie McCray, daughter of John McDuffie Sr., and the late Pearlie McDuffie was born in Baltimore, Maryland on January 27, 1960. She was called home on October 31, 2017.
In Janie's early childhood, she moved in with her sister, Zetta (Sissy) and brother-in-law, Earl Matthews. She grew up with her niece, Sheila and nephews, Earl and Marvin. They called each other sister and brothers.
Janie attended Baltimore City Schools. She graduated from Walbrook Senior High and pursued higher education and earned her Bachelors of Education from Morgan State University. Janie was working on getting her Masters.
As a young woman, Janie was united in marriage to Walter Singleton. Out of this union her son, Michael was created.
Janie loved children, she held numerous jobs helping disable children, including Sheppard Pratt and School for the Blind.
Janie loved to travel, read, do puzzles and play with her grandchildren. Janie was a true Ravens fan.
Janie leaves to celebrate her life: her son, Michael and daughter-in-law, Suzy Singleton; granddaughter, Alyssa; grandson, Austia; father, John McDuffie, Sr.; 3 sisters, Zetta Matthews, Geneva Lowman (Michael), and Deborah Price; 2 brothers, John Jr. and Michael McDuffie and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
