David, so sorry for your loss. Keeping you in my prayers.

I am so saddened by this unexpected loss of a truly beautiful person. Janet and I were classmates starting in first grade. I have fond memories of her and the Broadwater family. May God bless and take care of her family during this time of grief and sorrow. She will be sorely missed.

The GCHS Class of 1968 extends our deepest sympathy in the passing of our classmate, Janet. We hold many special memories of her throughout our schooldays, and will always remember her fondly. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the family and friends during this difficult time.

Janet Broadwater's Obituary

KINGSPORT, TN – JANET BROADWATER LYNCH, AGE 75

Janet Broadwater Lynch, age 75 of Kingsport, TN passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, July 11, 2025. She was born on October 23, 1949 to the late James and Betty Jean Jeffries Broadwater. Janet was a graduate of The University of Tennessee, was a sales associate at high end department stores for many years as well as a teacher for special-needs children. She was a member of Gate City United Methodist Church. Before returning to the area, she resided in Dennisport, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, a place she loved. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by the father of her children, Michael Downa; husband, Francis Lynch; and brothers, Alex Broadwater and Jimmy Broadwater.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Jessica Downa and Elizabeth Downa; sister, Susan Broadwater; brother, John Broadwater; life partner, David Baldwin; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and her beloved schnauzer, “Casper”.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 from 5-7 PM at Colonial Funeral Home in Weber City, VA. Service will follow at 7 PM with Rev. Michael Vaughn officiating. Family will provide music.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Scott County Life Saving Crew.
