The journey of life is different for each. We touch lives, make friends and memories along the way. We stumble, we hurt, we are healed, we love and are loved. Janet Roberta McTyre
“Bobbie”
4/3/1942 to 6/8/2025
Bobbie McTyre, 83, of Damascus, Virginia, passed away peacefully on June 8th, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Bobbie, born in Baltimore Maryland, was the oldest of two daughters born to Lt Colonel James Jennings and his wife Ralphaleta. As a child she traveled to Japan and Turkey among other various international places as a part of her father’s post WWII orders. These travels lead to a lifelong love of eastern culture.
Despite her worldly travels, it was the little mountain town of Damascus that she called home for the last 40 years of her life. It was in this town that she truly spread her roots and developed many cherished lifelong friendships. Most notably her wonderful neighbor, Betty Fields. They were truly kindred spirits.
Bobbie adored her family and always put their needs before her own, even in her final days. Her ability to love and empathize with those around her will be her lasting legacy. Her incredible and nurturing soul will be dearly missed by those closest to her.
She is predeceased by her parents and late husband, Benjamin McTyre. She is survived by her sister Marsha Meyer and husband Jim. Also, her four children; Marsha Powers and husband Wayne, Robert “Bill” McTyre and wife Kim, Jeffrey McTyre and wife Dione, and Kelley Pruett and husband Ben. Additionally, she is survived by her 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Bobbie will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved her. To honor her legacy and deep love for animals, please consider donating to your local animal shelter in lieu of flowers.
