Janet A. Segedy, 85, of Merrimack, NH passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at her home after a period of declining health.
She was born in New York City, NY on September 9, 1937 to the late Julius and Clara (Wenson) Roth. She was raised in New York and Massachusetts and graduated from Acton Boxborough High School at the top of her class. Janet attended Brandeis University and later received her Bachelor’s degree in Geography from St. Anselm College. She and her husband, John, lived and raised their family in New York and then New Hampshire.
She was a loving and patient mother, a writer, lover of spring flowers, and an avid reader, who especially enjoyed mysteries. For many years, Janet was a member of both the Merrimack and Nashua writer’s groups, worked for the Merrimack Public Library, and edited for a number of publications including the Merrimack Connection.
Along with her parents, Janet was pre-deceased by two grandchildren, Christopher Segedy and Danielle Segedy, and siblings, David Roth and Susan Ireland.
She will be dearly missed and forever loved by her husband of 65 years, Dr. John J. Segedy; five children, John P. Segedy and wife Deborah, Stephan Segedy, Catherine Segedy, James Segedy and wife Brenda, Jennifer and husband Matthew Manganelli; grandchildren: Jayne, Clara, Jason, Dan, Sam, Joshua, Ragnar, James, Nathan, Dakota, Madeleine, Olivia and Felicity; great-grandchildren: Thorin, Kieran, Stefan, Aerith, Amelia, Aaron, Lucas & Kinsley as well as many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Last Rest Cemetery, 13 Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack on Saturday May 6 at 11 AM.
