Janie Ammons Brown

Mrs. Janie Ammons Brown, aged 80, passed away peacefully at her home in Mullins on the evening of Saturday, November 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 8, 1945, in Horry County, South Carolina, she was the cherished daughter of the late Gladys Ammons.

Janie was a devoted wife to Lewis Brown, with whom she shared a beautiful life and family. As a homemaker and farmer’s wife, she ensured her household was filled with love and care. Her culinary skills were unmatched, and she was known for her vast collection of memorized recipes, never allowing anyone to leave her home hungry. Janie also enjoyed playing games, whether at family gatherings, with her grandchildren, or during church functions, where her competitive spirit shone.

A devout Christian, Janie was a dedicated member of the Mullins Church of God, where her faith and love for the Lord were evident to all who knew her.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Lewis Brown of Mullins; her children, Dwayne Brown and his wife Lori of Mullins, Glenda Watson and her husband Ken of Myrtle Beach, and Kevin D. Brown of Mullins; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Neta Byrd of Latta; her brother, Dale Caulder of Alabama; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Kenneth Lee Brown, her grandson, Dawson Brown, and her brother, Lewis Ammons.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, November 4th, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home in Mullins. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 5th, at 2:00 P.M. at the Mullins Church of God, officiated by Reverend Jerry Causey. Following the service, Janie will be laid to rest in the Brown Family Cemetery on Bluff Road. Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins is assisting the family during this time.
