Obituary

JC's Obituary

James Carl Bowen, III was known to family, friends, and the community as ‘JC’ and ‘JJ’. He was born on August 17th, 1973, to James and Esther Bowen Jr. in Blythe, California. JC attended schools and graduated from Palo Verde High School in Blythe.

From early on, JC had a passion for fixing things - from cars to appliances to turning tricycles into motorized bikes. On any given day you would see JC with his headphones, zooming through streetlights and stop signs doing 90mph on one of his homemade bikes. He loved to go fishing, not because he liked it, but because his grandma Ann Ross made him go with her. When JC wasn't working, you can for sure see him on the side lines during one of his kid's sporting events.

JC leaves to cherish and share his memory with his mother Esther, his sister Shaquila Gray (Vaughn Jr.), his daughters Nicole, Jasmine, Monae, Vonae, Khadjiah, Jayanna, Patience, and Jaylove and his sons, James IV, Nathan, and Jayson. He also leaves behind his bonus children that he loved Chris, Shaunte, Keisha, Laquita, Jarae and DeShawn, his bonus brothers and sisters Rob T, Damien, Latasha, Tanesha, Charles, Miche'le and John.  JC is also survived by his uncles Franklin, Jeffrey, Ernest, and Donell, his aunties Charlotte, Sharon, Ernestine, Alfreda, Bridgette, and Victoria.

JC was preceded in death by his wife Pam, his father JC Jr, his paternal grandparents JC Sr and Lou Ethel Bowen, his maternal grandparents Robert and Ann Ross, his aunts Betty, Kaye, and Annette, his grandson TraShun and his cousin MeMe. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Services will be held on Thursday, January 15th, 2026 at Frye Chapel with visitation beginning at 9am and funeral service starting at 10:30am.  A committal service will follow at Palo Verde Cemetery where JC will be laid to rest.
