Jean's Obituary

Jean Ellis Booker, 83, of Wichita Falls, passed away on October 3, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Burkburnett Memorial Cemetery with Mr. Lonnie Everidge, officiating.

She was born on August 21,1942 in Jasper, Alabama to Ollie and Jessie Griffin, where she grew up and on August 22, 1960, married the love of her life, Bobby.

After moving to Wichita Falls, she worked at Kiwanis Resale Center, JC Penney’s, Grandy’s, Rider cafeteria and as a caregiver, but was primarily a homemaker and was the best daughter, wife, mom and nana you could ask for. She took care of both her parents when they were sick until their deaths and her Husband, Bobby, until his passing in 2012. She took such good care of her 3 girls and helped them with their children. She loved the grandbabies like they were her own and gave them the best “belly sugars” ever.

She had a love for animals and nursed multiple cats and rabbits back to health after sickness and injuries. She was also known to feed all the possums and skunks that lived around her house.

She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was a member of the Parkway Congregation.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Bobby Booker; daughter Gina Bailey; parents Ollie and Jessie Griffin; aunt “Aunt Dean “; uncle Chesley Hood; brothers-in-law L.C. Booker and Ronnie Booker; sister-In-law- Else Booker; and niece Doris Mathews.

She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Orr and husband Tom, and Barbra Booker; grandchildren Christopher Bailey, Aaron Schrick and wife Katie, Stephanie Taylor and husband Sean, Danielle Schrick and fiancé Javier, Erica Pastorello and husband Blake, and Joseph Lomax; nephew John Booker; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend special thanks to University Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and Hospice of Wichita Falls.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hospice of Wichita Falls or the Alzheimer’s research fund.
